What can I do about an aggressive cat?

Cats can take time to warm up to people. Be patient with the cat and leave it alone if that's what it wants - eventually it will start to warm up to you. If it's a male, neutering him will make him less aggressive.

Try spraying the cat with water in a spray bottle so they will get the idea that they're not to hiss and be aggressive.

There are many things that can be causing this behavior; other pets, children and stress. Having an aggressive cat can be very unpleasant for everyone. You should consider taking your cat to the vet to discuss possibly putting your cat on medication. Cats can also have mental conditions like humans. I don't think there is any other alternative treatment.
