Pull the refrigerator away from the wall to access the back. Disconnect the power cord. Remove the cooling system cover. Lubricate the fan bearings with lightweight oil. Wipe off any excess oil. Replace the cooling system cover. Plug in the power cord. Push the refrigerator back in place.

Spray the squealing refrigerator fan with a can of compressed air. Once the dust bunnies are cleared out of the fan spray a little WD-40 on the fan's gear.

I would pull off the back and check to see if that area is free from dirt and dust that accumulates around the fan. Then oil the fan, or call a refrigerator repair man.

My first suggestion is to apply WD40 to the fan to eliminate the noise, although I would be careful of the amount of oil used to prevent slippage. My mother's squeaked as a result of a mouse caught in the fan.

When you hear a squealing fan in your refrigerator you should call a repairman. The squealing fan is a warning sign that your fan is about to go. If you catch this before it dies you will save a lot of food!
