Untreated strep can lead to rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, cardiac complications, kidney infections, severe ear infections, tonsillitis, the flu and even death. Strep should always be treated with an antibiotic.
Untreated strep will not only make swallowing unbearable, it will leave permanent scars on the back of the throat which you will feel each time you eat or drink. The strep itself may leave a clone of itself in your body so now youll have strep throat several times each year.
Sometimes, but sometimes not. I had strep that become mono, a more serious illness. I would suggest getting antibiotics for it if you can. It can spread to other people.
Strep can be very dangerous. It affects your kidneys and any organs. No it won't go away on its own. It can also turn to scarlet fever, and make you very sick. Go to a doctor if you think you have strep!!
