My marine was AWOL for 6 months and has turned himself in. He wants to stay in. What will happen?

He went on leave and didn't go back for 6-7 months and has now turned himself in. He hasn't seen a CM yet, but when he does he will state that he made a mistake and wants to stay in. What will happen?

Whether he can stay in, gets discharged or gets jail depends on his previous record, attitude, and whether the USMC needs him. Best guess: Article 15, short jail and retention.

This is a tough and rather complicated question. In my opinion, he will most definitely get out, possibly do jail time, and most likely get a bad conduct discharge. Staying in seems entirely out of the question.
