Well typically any type of corrosion around the end of a hose is do to a leak. I would remove the hose and clean it then install a new washer.

Abundance of oxygen in the water and the natural reactivity of water can cause corrosion. Also carbon dioxide in water lowers the ph which causes corrosion.
