What can be done if you put gas in a diesel tank?

Important: DO NOT START VEHICLE, You will need to have the fuel tank removed and drained completely. If started you could damage the injection system which could become a more of an expence,take this to a mechanic.

First off do not start the vehicle. The fuel system will have to be purged of the gas. This usually involves dropping the tank and removing the fuel lines.

The best thing to do is to drain all the gas from the tank. There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the tank and you can get the gas out like that.

You need to get as much of it as possible out of the fuel system. Then lines should be drop and flushed along with the gas tank.

Carefully disconnect the fuel line after the fuel pump. Place the line coming from the tank into a container large enouph to hold all of the fuel in the tank. Making sure there is nothing around that can spark, turn the ignition to the run position letting the fuel empty.
