As with most bruises, you should follow the RICE method, especially if swelling is involved. Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Make sure to never aplly the ice directly to the skin.

try to keep your weight off the heel for a while and take anti-inflammatory, such as white willow bark to reduce swelling.

A bruised heel usually means a minor compression fracture. Unfortunately, the only thing to do is stay off it and rest it as much as possible.

Use a hot pack for fifteen minutes and switch to a warm pack for another fifteen and back to a hot pack for ten. Then keep off it.

If you have bruised your heel you should rest your foot, elevate it, ice it and stay off of it till the swelling is reduced. You can also try soaking your foot in a warm Epsom salt bath.
