Smaller breeds of dogs make the best house dogs because they don't need as much outdoor time. Breeds that aren't highly energetic are great indoors. I have a chihuahua and he is absolutely perfect as an indoor dog. Just ensure that you get them potty trained as it will mean they cannot go wherever and whenever they want.

I'm sure lots of breeds make good house dogs, but I think the best dogs are mixed breed dogs, or mutts.

try poodles, chihuahuas, yorkshire terriers, jack russell terriers, snausers, mainly small dogs. terriers are hyper and not that great with kids. poodles are your best bet.

Almost any breed can make a good house dog given that you take time to train the dog properly. You should consider the personality of the people and the breeds personality characteristics to find a good match. This is the most important factor when choosing a breed.
