It's more of picking a paint color that matches other things in the room. Say, if you have walnut furniture and brown comforter/couch, then a light cream would look good.

Dark walnut furniture needs to stand out so eggshell is the best to outline the dark color of the walnut. Another color that would work well is creme orange but not too bold.
