A TV band radio is a radio that you can listen to am/fm wavelength, and television signals. You can't listen to the television signals anymore because they are all digital.
Tv band radios are radios that are capable of getting televisions signals to broadcast through them. Typically you can only get a handful of local channels on these radios and now they are difficult to find due to the change to all digital signals that tv channels are being sent.
"TV-band" radios tune in the audible-portions of television-program broadcast signals. Make sure your newer "TV-band" radio receives U.S. ATSC digital-television signals, and not just older NTSC-analog only.
They are am and fm included bands which basically means you can capture a signal of the TV channel and listen to it on the radio. It only works for news networks I guess.
