Bumps on your beta fish can come from many origins. Your beta may have fish pox, untreatable tumors, various types of ulcer diseases, parasites, or the most common causes; bacteria diseases and reactions to certain carbon filters. To treat most bumps bath your beta fish in potassium permanganate. After the bath, boil water and clean their habitat thoroughly before replacement.

if its white bumps then it is a type of fungus growing on them. There's is medication for it but the medication would cost more then the fish.

Basically the bumps on the beta fish are very common. They are actually known as scales. The scales are a feature of the beta fish parts and as a result, they are common.

The bumps on your fish could be an infection caused by unclean water, or algae growing on your fish. My beta fish had the same problem and discovered my tank had a ph that was allowing algae to start growing. I isolated the fish from the others and cleaned the tank, and checking the ph after I filled it.

Bumps could mean parasites such as ich, abscesses from injuries, or cancerous growths. Or it could be scales filled with fluid, due to kidney failure which is called Dropsy.

My best guess would be ICH. This is a fungal growth that can be identified as little white bumps on the fish. Using ich medications will stop this.

If the bumps are white, it's most likely a disease called Ick. Ick is a parasite which is treatable with an over the counter remedy, available at pet stores.
