There are different welding processes. The most common now a days is MIG or wire feed welding where the wire is the electrode. Next is arc welding or stick welding. Again the stick is the filler metal and the electrode. All electrodes and determined by the type of metal you are welding. Lastly is TIG, where the electrode is Tungsten.
