West Nile symptoms start 2-8 days after being bitten. There is a fever, chills, sweats, weakness, swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, sleepiness and sometimes a body rash. West Nile Fever is not dangerous on its own, nor contagious. The dangerous part is if the virus invades the central nervous system. Coma, death or permanent brain damage can result.
