Loss of appetite or over eating, isolation, withdrawal, constant crying, depression, constantly checking their phone for missed calls or messages. At times outburst of frustration or anger for the smallest thing. Refusal to hangout with friends or family, constant sleeping. Frequently calling on person that broke their heart and wondering why they won't talk to them.

From what I experienced, I had depression, loss of appetite, I did not want to go out and hang out with my friends, I just want to be left alone, and I did not do what I usually enjoy such as working out.

if your teenage son or daughter lounges around the house all day moping, thinking the world is out to get them, than that could be a symptom. but maybe it's just how a teenager acts! Simple way, just ask them and play an active role in their lives. If you don't pay attention you will think the worst.

She will probably close herself off from her friends and family, she's quieter than usually and she seems sad. Don't come to her, let her come to you.
