Why do teens think they know everything?

When you are a teenager you are going through an awkward time of life. The parents want to be a little overbearing and don't realize their child is starting to formulate their own opinions and views. The teenager may act like they think they know everything but this is a stage that must be weathered.

Based on their limited life experience, teens are unable to understand that they know very little. As they mature, they begin to realize just how much they do not know. As one passes the teen years, and begins to gain more personal life experience, they acknowledge the wisdom of elders.

Call it the generational gap. They are trying to gain some independence and in doing so they search for answers away from home and usually from those that are their age/peers and not asking from the parents.

Because most of them don't realize they are still learning and growing. With time they will find themselves and they will realize how wrong they were back then.
