Most mechanic shops will charge you upwords of $80.00 an hour for car repairs. However not all shops will charge that much, but Dealerships will charge you that much. Some shops will only charge $50.00 or $60.00. It depends on what shop you go to. And some mobile mechanics will only charge you $40.00 an hour.

It depends in which country you live. I am in Canada and around here a mechanic charges $50. oo/hour. However, if you own a new car, to keep your guarantee alive, you have to go to the car saler for inspections and repairs, and there the rate is $105. 00/hour and even and higher.

The hourly rate for a mechanic can range from sixty dollars an hour into the hundreds. Dealerships will typically charge between 70 and 130 dollars and hour. It depends on the car also, the more expensive the car, the higher the rate usually. Then add cost of parts.

The average mechanic (at least in the midwest) charges about 55-60 dollars an hour for general service. Depending on the problem some mechanics have set fees for things such as suspension, brakes, windshield replacement etc. Ask the mechanic for an estimate and tell them to keep as close to the estimate as possible. You can always haggle price.
