The skills required include a lot of experience in the art field, and likely at least a Bachelor of Arts in some form of art be it visual art or even art history. You can't start your career as an art director, but you can certainly work towards it. Good luck!

To be an art director you need to have at least a doctorate degree from a respectable university. An art director has to know the subject of art and have a passion for teaching that subject. Creativity is a must.
