Since it is prescribed for diabetes, you would be worse off not taking it. If you find you are hypersensitive to it, perhaps something else can be prescribed. Some of the possible side effects are headache, weakness, lactic acidosis, dizziness, thrombocytopenia, nausea and heartburn. It is contraindicated if you have liver or kidney disease, or are pregnant.

I don't know much about Metformin but from what I have heard, I would really try not to take it. It seems the side effects are diarrheh and gas. There seem to be many other sie effects too. Like I said I am not too familiar with it.

Metformin is a anti-hyperglycemic agent used to treat type 2 diabetes. The most common side effect for Metformin is hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is characterized by weakness, tremors, altered mental status, and possibly coma. Not taking your metformin can result in hyperglycemia which can ultimately be fatal.
