Common side effects, which should disappear within three months, are nausea, vomiting, weight gain, tenderness in the breasts, spotting between periods, and problems wearing contact lenses. More serious side effects can include high blood pressure, blood clots, and liver tumors. These serious side effects are extremely rare.

I personally have taken this medicine since I was 16 and I can say that the side effects are minor. All that I have experienced is a sickness if I take it on an empty stomach or don't eat anything after taking it. Other than that nothing has happened.

Oral contraceptive side effects include weight gain, decrease/increased libido, decreased menstrual cramping and flow, headaches, tenderness in the breasts and other effects. Not all users experience these.

Definitely talk to your doctor to get a full list of side effects for orthotricyclin, but some typical ones include weight gain, mood swings, bleeding between periods, as well as regular period side effects.

As with all birth control pills there are always some side effects. These include blood clotting, even death. But, these side effects are not common, the benefits outweigh the possible risks.
