What are the secrets to laying sod?

Laying sod is fairly simple, I'm sure you'll be successful on your first time. Buy high qyality sod to begin with. Make sure the sod is damp. Next make sure that the area where you plan to place the sod is well waters and clear of debris. Then roll out your sod in the area. It'll root on it's own.

Correctly prepare the soil before you lay sod. Til the soil about 6 inches,Remove any rocks and debris. You might add a thin layer of topsoil. Rake the area so that is is smooth and water to 6 inches deep then lay the sod on top evenly.

The primary item is to water it really well and keep it wet until the roots start to run down into the soil. This helps bond the sod to the ground it is laid on. Water it if possible twice a day for at a week.

The ground must be dug at least 12 inches, then the soil moistened before laying the sod. The sod should be placed as close together as possible, water often.
