There is very little you can do to tell if you have twins without an ultrasound. Early tests will measure the amount of HCG in your blood, which normally doubles in a fourty eight to seventy two hour period. Sometimes women carry twins have slightly faster doubling times, but it is not a determing factor.

THe only real way you can be sure about twins is to conuls your ob and ask he or she about any possible signs of a twin pregnancy. If twins are suspected I believe they'll check with an ultrasound.

The only positive sign of a twin pregnancy is an ultrasound that shows that you are caring twins or a doctor picking up more than one heart beat on the doppler. A lot of new moms want to have twins and hope and pray that they will. But in the end be thankful that you are pregnant.
