Well technically all domesticated dog breeds are the same species. Genetically, they're all roughly equal in 'closeness' to being a wolf. However, going off appearances, Huskies and German shepherds will provide the closest resemblance to a wolf. Also, Huskies and German shepherds are very capable dogs, prized for their ability to be trained, strength, and intelligence.

There are a variety of dog breeds that are closest to the wolf family some are: Siberian Husky, Chow, Alaskan malamute, Akita, dingoes, Afghan Hounds, Salukis, Basenjis, greyhounds. Many of these dog breeds look extremely similar to the wolf. Although those are closely related to the wolf it is said that all dog breeds are genetically related to the wolf.

The closest breed would probably be the alsation dog which is the most domesticated near to the wolf. The alsation can be a friendly animal as i owned one years ago a very good guard dog. The alsation is a very loyal companion to its owner and when bred properly is no danger.

It is easy to get caught up inappearance. THink about behaviour. Try comparing the way a small pack of wolves hunt with the way a pair of collies work a flock of sheep with a shepherd. Ignore the colour and they even look simir in siloette.
