The different types of grips that pitchers can use are: fastball, curveball, knuckle ball, and slider. Most grips for these pitches are generally the same with some variations.
Four seam fastball, two seam fastball, three-finger changeup, circle changeup, palmball, curveball, straight curveball, knuckle curveball, slider, and split-finger fastball.
Fastball- Index and Middle finger touching sides of "horseshoe"
Curveball- Index and Milddle finger close together on curve of seems
Changeup- Ball deep inside palm with all four fingers touching
There can be as many as 12 to 16 kinds of pitches, but they all are derived from four basic types of pitches. They are: Fastbasll, curveball, slider and change up. You may also hear of other kinds of pitches, such as the "cutter" "breaking ball" "sinker" and "splitter." There is some overlap between kinds of pitches.
