Does a Western grip create wrist or elbow problems for tennis players?

I have a Western grip but want to change it if it will cause problems.

If you are gripping the racquet too tight, then it could possibly cause wrist problems. If you experience any major wrist or elbow pinching or pain I would stop using western grip. I like to keep my game quite aggressive so I choose to utilise the semi-western grip. If you are doubtful, use semi-western.

When done correctly, a Western grip should not cause any wrist or elbow problems. Several successful professional tennis players utilize this type of grip effectively. The key would be practicing.
