Many different insects live in wood. Two types that attack a healthy tree are bark beetles and long-horned beetles. Bark beetles live just below the bark. Long-horned beetles tunnel into the heart of a tree. Termites, carpenter bees and carpenter ants live in wood that is already damaged.
