There are basically hundreds of branches of biology, each studying a certain element in nature. For example the main branches, like zoology, microbiology, botanics, each having many subbranches, like zoology has ornithology, enthomology, herpetology, etc. Also, certain aspects of life are branches of biology, like biochemistry, or biophysics, or even social biology, like ethology.
