I would like to cut the branches off of one side of my white pine tree.
Answer by Dana46 (2345)
It won't hurt the tree, but do realize that the branches will not grow back from where you cut them, but may sprout from other areas on the same side.

It will not kill the tree but the branches will grow back eventually. The tree may even grow the branches faster than you expect but the tree should be fine.

White pines can take a lot of pruning so you will be OK. The larger the tree, the less likely you are to be successful though.

Well, yes it is safe to cut off the branches but only if the branches are not growing. Tearing a branch that is growing has an adverse effect.
