You can get inexpensive puppy wormers from a petstore, but be forewarned, they are dangerous. If the dosage is off by a few ML it can be fatal. a common wormer sold is one from Hartz and it is one of the safest because it usually kills all roundworms in one dose. If the puppy has hookworms, see a veterinarian.

My suggestion would be to phone your local vet and ask. You are most likely going to have to purchase the medication from the vet anyway, and usually they will sell it to you without a visit. They will of course advise on the best to buy.

its always best to get one from a veteranarian but most dog specialty supply stores offer a variety of puppy wormers including the brand hartz which is one of the most effective. Any over the counter medicine has the tendacy to be dangerous, so make sure you follow the directions exactly.

I have always had good luck with Heartguard. My vet recommended it to me for my puppy and she has not ever had an outbreak of worms.
