Many people do well with a class of drugs called Triptans, the most familiar being Imitrex (sumatriptan). some are helped by beta blockers or a low dose of an anti-depressant. OTC offerings are usually combinations of aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine.

Morphine would be the best but it will be hard to dind someone to prescribe that. You can usually get Vicoden or other strong pain killer for them which is effective at relieving the pain associated with them. Be careful on these medicines as you can easily become addicted to them.

one of the best prescriptions for migrain headaches that always works for me is to take ibuprophen 800. it is more effective than regular ibuprophen from the store.
