What are the advantages of using conventional motor oil?

Well typically the only advantage of using conventional rather than a synthetic is that it is cheaper. Synthetics are much better in reducing engine wear and even improving mileage sometimes.

There are no advantages to conventional oil except that it is cheaper. They are asking you if you want the cheap stuff or do you want to go with synthetic oil which is a lot more expensive but has some advantages.

conventional oil is cheaper and it has a shorter life than that of synthetic oil. conventional is ok for newer cars and trucks but for the older ones with over 75000 miles its a good idea to use a synthetic like castrol gtx i use that in all of my cars no matter what yearor mileage
