What are some tips to help me learn to speak Spanish?

Try to listen to Spanish radio. Watch spanish tv and perhaps go on to wikipedia and research topics that you already know about in spanish. Also try to reset you electronic devices to that language. i.e. your ipod and mobile phone. If you are a complete beginner this may not be a good idea. Free podcasts on Itunes are great.

Try to surround yourself with as much Spanish as possible. Spanish TV will help your listening skills and reading simple books will help you develop reading and comprehension. But you will need a solid beginning foundation first, which you can probably get from books, tapes, software, or a Spanish class.

Practicing the language is the best way to learn Spanish. It is very beneficial to live in or spend time in a native country. Another idea is to work with a native speaker one-on-one. Finally, it is important to remember that all sounds in a word are pronounced.

Watch Mexican soap operas - called "telenovelas". Over there is a great source for learning. Go to Mexican restaurants and learn about the food.
