What are some tips for dialogue writing?

It really depends on what kind of dialogue you are attempting to write. I suggest you read the dialogues of Plato and Socrates or the other philosophers. It would also be a good idea to read a few plays. If reading isn't your thing, then I suggest you search for some audiobooks or videos of people reading out different dialogues.

Observe and listen to real people and how they speak to each other. Most people speak in some degree of slang and do not necessarily answer each other. One person may say one thing and the other may completely ignore it and bring up a new topic, mention what's on his/her mind, or miss the point.

One way to do it is like this Joe:Hi dave how are you today Dave: oh hi joe im good

Keep your dialog simple and avoid words ending with "ly". Adverbs weaken your dialog. You can control dialog with puncuation and let it flow they way you intend.
