There are two ways to convince people. One is through making an emotional appeal, such as describing people or animals in terrible situations. Another is by making a logical argument: a thesis with factual support. Use both.
Know your subject and grab the audience's attention upfront. Have three or more points and name them number one, number two, and number three. Be an authority.
Know your audience, support points with credible evidence, be passionate, have a clear thesis with interconnected points, and finally, try to argue with yourself to find holes in your logic.
