Lose excess weight, reduce sodium intake, be more physically active with things you like to do, stay as calm as possible, try to eliminate stress, and get adequate sleep.

One could try mediation, especially transcendental. Some studies have shown that listen to certain kinds of music may help. Try the DASH diet, lowering your salt intake, reducing or lowering your alcohol use. Losing some weight and exercising are good for hypertension. Make sure you're getting enough potassium, calciuma, vitamin C and Omega-3.

Avoid alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, and foods high in sodium. Lose weight if you are overweight, and exercise regularly. Eat a low-fat diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Decrease the amount of sodium in your diet. Decrease using salt on foods, check labels the amount of sodium should be 2000 mg. Increse your activity or exercise. Decrease anxiety or stressors.
