Pagan can mean a believer in a non-mainstream religion, or in ancient folk religions. Pagan costumes can include dressing up as a witch, warlock or wizard, a druid, or woodland spirits such as fairies, nymphs, fauns or elves.
Pagan costumes represent those things that bring primitive cultures closer to the land they live off of or the animals they hunt. The consist of animal parts such as skins, antlers, bone and, in some African cultures, feces. Pagan costumes may also consist of plants such as flowers and vines.
