A sick dog will often be lethargic and sleep more than usual. The dog may be off his food, not respond to treats, and be disinterested in other people and animals around. The dog may also be more anxious than usual. More obvious signs would be vomiting, diarrhea, patchy fur, shaking, limping and excessive thirst.

This, of course, is the symptom of rabies. Another is inflamation of joints, basically arthritis, which afflicts canines more than humans.
