You can have some really special cakes made, depending on how much you want to spend. Cake can be carved into a variety of animals and characters, or fashioned into an elaborate tableau of one her favorite places. You can also design a multi-tiered cake done in colorful polka dots.

There are no boundaries but that of your mind. You need to understand what your daughter likes and is "in to". Know her favorite colors, get the atmosphere idea that she wants at her party. Then you just need to follow a recipe, your heart, and what you have and can use to achieve that. It's not that hard. Luck.

My favorite is to divide the batter up into four bowls and use food dyes to make each layer a different color. If you use white icing, it's surprising.
