What are some home remedies to treat a sprained ankle?

Drink a lot of fluids to combat the inflammation that is taking place during an injury. Eat garlic as this also decreases inflammation. Try to keep pressure off of your ankle. For example, avoid wearing tightly fitted shoes. For the first 24 hours, keep your foot elevated as much as you can. Ice injury then take off ice. Repeat this.

Elevation and support of the ankle with an ice pack reducing swelling and inflammation is an immediate remedy. Herbal remedies include massage with diluted almond and garlic oil, resting the ankle in warm water mixed with sweet marjoram oil and using a chopped onion placed directly onto the foot.

It is best to keep a sprained ankle wrapped in a bandage to secure stability. Try to remain in a sitting or laying position with ankle resting on pillows to keep ankle raised. Apply cold compress to ankle to reduce swelling and discomfort. After a day or two or rest you should be back on your feet.

Wrap the ice on towel and apply to sprained ankle for 20 minutes. Then give the break for about 10 minutes and continue again for 20 minutes, like same do it as much as possible through out the day. After a week, Do rehabilitation exercise to prevent any chronic pain

The best thing to do for a sprained ankle is to try to stay off it as much as you can and to wrap it whenever you walk on it.
