Design clothes that represent you or the person that you are designing for. A good way to start designing clothes is by creating a pattern from clothes you already have that fit well and making alterations to add your own twist. Trace an outline of your favorite clothes, pin and sew to fit your figure.

Use oversized man's dress shirt, button midway to top, shorten the bottom, hang a designer belt from the waist. Slip on high heels to match. Use oversized man's sweatsuit, make capri's by cutting the pants. Cut the shirt midrift and rip out the sleeves, use strip of cloth for a headband and you're ready to dance the night away.

The first idea that comes to my mind while designing clothes is that the clothes are meant for wearing and that they should be designed in such a way that one feels easy after wearing them. The second idea could be the simple designs for all time wear, some odd designs for party wear, etc.
