Naturally, it depends on your geographical location. I'd recommend something easy like marigolds or pansies. They don't mind hot or cold.

Alpine plants will grown in window boxes in most areas, as well as shade loving plants such as ornamantal grasses and hostas. A member of the mint family will grow in window boxes in most areas.

Some good choices for bedding plants are marigolds and carnations. They can stand the heat and occassional neglect of watering. They are great for bedding and window boxes because the plants don't get huge like canna lilies. Geraniums are also good but need a deeper root base. Snapdragons can be a good choice too.

Impatiens, geraniums, pansy, petunias and any annual. I usually do red and white geraniums with any blue cast flowers for the forth of july.

Pansys and johnny jump ups ar the best and they can survive anything but I also know that marigolds and petunias also do well and thrive in window boxes as well as geraniums.

Window boxes are eye-catching. Some plants that grow well in window boxes are ivy geraniums, pansies, marigolds, petunias, impatiens, dainthus, english ivy, and miniature roses to name a few. To have a healthy window box put your plant in smal pots first then put in the window box surrounded by dirt.
