I'm an offensive lineman playing college football I can tell you that the jump rope is the best tool in the tool box. Side movements, front and back and switching feet quicken your steps tremendously. Also 10 yard get offs from a stance develop quickness.

The easiest and most basic drill is for an offensive lineman to practice their stances and staying onsides. Have the linemen get down in a good balanced three point stance so they getused to being comfortable in this position. Next call hike, and have them come out of their stances and simulate blocking on air.

One of the drills I used to run that helped me the most involved both foot work and arm work. The initial push/punch off the line is very important. Setup a standard footwork course (ropes, dummies, etc) while they run it make them continualy punch with a weight. In highschool we used a 45lb wagonwheel. It was a great drill.

Line your lineman up on a line then have them get in their stance, have them power step foward making sure their foot does not go backward first. Alternate feet.
