Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a common and well known virus that is slowly progressive but usually fatal. Hemorrhagic viruses including Ebola and Marburg viruses are frequently fatal. Encephalitis viruses including St. Louis Encephalitis virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis can also be fatal.

The most common we already know about... Influenza, Rabies, Malaria, Measels, HIV and Hepatitus kills hundreds of thousands of people every year. Some of the lesser known like Dengue, Yellow Fever, and Hantavirus still cause thousands of deaths. There are more, but I believe that these have been the most deadly.

Rabies, passed on by rabid animals. It comes with acute pain, inability to swallow water, violent moments etc.. Hepatitis C, spread by infectious blood contamination. Attacks you with liver damage over the years and cancer.
