Infection in the bladder, a complication of an urinary tract infection. can cause you to have bladder pain. A stone blocking the urethra can cause this pain too.

Physical injury, infection, and, more classically, "holding it. " "Holding it" can cause bladder, urinary tract and kidney infection. The reason animals and humans urinate to begin with is to release the toxins from our bodies-- "holding it" allows for those toxins to infect those places. When you gotta go, go!

There are a few causes, some common some not. The most common reason would be a urinary tract infection. They are relatively easy to contract. There is also infrequent urination, a bladder infection, or even possibly bladder cancer. For any type pain, I would highly recommend visiting a urologist.

It could be that you have a bladder infection or a UTI. Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Visit your physician immediately for a urine test to rule out the two conditions mentioned above. Lastly, the bladder may be dysfunctional which could be due to other conditions. Consult your physician for a definite answer.
