It's always better to clean the clock without disassembling it. Antique clocks should be cleaned with more care. Use any cleansing solution to clean the outer layer, where as use very delicate brush to clean the inside parts.Quite easier to clean when it is completely covered with glass at front and closed with cardboard cover at back.

Well, use vinegar that is white to clean around the clock. Then to clean the sides, you may want to use some qtips to reach through the fine edges and take grime off.

Basically, you would like to clean up all the dust. Use a toothbrush to clean the sleek areas and you could use white vinegar depending on the base of the cloth. If it has a plastic or glass frame, you could just use a damp cloth to shine the areas.

Take the clock down. Get a clean rag, dampen it, don't soak it, wipe the clock, put the clock back.
