Pretty much any science experiment that involves electricity is going to be considered advanced. For example, you can conduct electricity through lemons (fruit), or design an experiment that lights up a lightbulb. These are both advanced and will be crowd pleasers since everyone likes to see the end result (i.e. electricity) happen right before their very eyes.

Interesting and advanced science fair projects include the introduction of plasmid dna into e.coli from the firefly to have them express the luciferase enzyme and cause them to glow in the dark

Depending on your level of education. For elementary school students, I would suggest looking in middle school books. High schoolers have done experiments in medical offices and physicist labs.
