The Human Resources department handles this. Some places allow up to three days for a local funeral and five days for out of state. It depends on the company. You have to remember that it has to be a close relative for you to be able to go on bereavement leave.

Leave for bereavement is not provided for by law. It is a benefit of employment that the employer may or may not extend to employees.
