Make sure that anything you put into your compost pile is in small pieces. Your pile also has to be large enough to create the needed heat and retention. Turn compost pile often in order to incorporate the material on the top and on the outskirts.

When layering the brown and green ingredients, make sure they are finely shredded. Additionally, make sure the pile is moist and turned often.

Worms are a great way to speed up compose. They eat much of the detritus and convert it to soil quickly. Adding heat can also do the trick, speeding all processes of decomposition. Pick worms or heat- doing both will leave you with handfuls of dead worms.
