The symptoms are loss of scales, loss of color, visible skeletal deformities such as a curved spine, rapid weight loss (wasting), and sores all over the body. Any species of fish with a labyrinth organ and capable of breathing air directly is at greater risk for TB, so Bettas and Gouramis get TB more frequently than other fish.

Skeletel deformities such as a curved spine can indicate this. Fish will lose scales and color. Rapid breathing and loss of appetite can denote this. Whitish blotches appear or fish will lay on its side close to the bottom of the tank. The eyes may appear to be "popping out".

Loss of scales or color is a start of symptoms. A curved spine and other skeletal deformities are also tell tale signs of fish tuberculosis.
