What are causes of blood in the stool?

Causes vary ranging from hemmorhoids to gastrointestinal, or GI bleeding. GI bleeding is characterized by upper GI or lower GI depending on where the bleeding occurs. One common cause of GI bleeding is ulcers. Cancer cannot be ruled out as well.

Bowel strain could cause this problem. Hemorrhoids could be a likely culprit. Some medications could cause unusual stools. Digestive upset and ulcers would be another reason. Problems with the colon would be another reason. Polyps can cause unusual bleeding. The best thing to do is check it out with a doctor. It could be colon cancer.

blood in the stool is usually caused by cyst, a tear, cancerous lesions. Blood in the stool is always a reason to see your dr asap

There could be an infection, or more seriously a tumor or cancer. Some antibiotics if taken for an extended period of time can also cause blood in the stool.
