What are administrative assistant responsibilities?

I am thinking about taking a job at my father's office.

An administrative assistant handles everything from making sure that there is paper in the printer to managing their boss's calendar and handling travel arrangement and dinner reservations. Basically, it is your job to make sure that his/her life runs smoothly as well as everything in the office. Although it isn't glamorous, it is very important.

You will probably have to do a lot of random, menial office tasks. These might include: making copies, answering phones, calling people, scheduling appointments, organizing, and recording notes. It will vary depending on the type of office you are in.

You have to answer the phones, file paperwork, do some bookkeeping and account duties, prepare documents, make presentations, greet customers, write and print out checks, shred old papers, and you do basic office duties.
